Fashion, Charisma, Compassion & Posh: These Ladies Have it All

December 5, 2022

With creativity, style and enthusiasm–and a best friend–you can do anything you set your mind to.

Becoming a mother was someone she never thought she’d be. Now with two daughters ages 24 and 21, Kisha Lewis believes our children are our motivating force. “They're the ones that push us to think outside the box and get out of our own heads with a dream and just do it,” Lewis said. And Posh KM Entertainment was born out of a desire to chase after her creative dreams in hopes of inspiring others–all while doing it with her best friend of 20+ years.

Classy. Powerful. Inspiring. Three words to not just describe Posh KM Ent., but founders, Lewis and Miriam Barron-Applewhite, as well. Lewis adores classic movies, her favorite being the 1937 American drama film Stella Dallas with Barbara Stanwyck. Her dream venue? Tavern on the Green in New York City. Barron’s top choice would be the Met in New York City. Both ladies adore jazz music, with Barron’s favorite artist being Brian Culbertson, a jazz/R&B/funk musician. With their love for music and traveling, not to mention soul and comfort foods as well, it is no wonder Lewis and Barron have sparked a successful event management business. Posh KM Ent. thrives from their passion, enthusiasm and creative entrepreneurial spirit. Their events are full of posh, flair and spunk–just like them!

For both founders, the best part about Posh KM Ent. is working with each other and sharing the artwork and stories of others. They believe every artist should be able to see their body of work presented in a way that makes them feel accomplished and proud. “We want people to feel [like] a million bucks, that their showcase is a million bucks, and that their audience are people who would appreciate this wonderful form of art,” Lewis said.

There is so much beauty and empowerment in sharing stories; it is how people build relationships and find common ground. Lewis says everyone has one, and a journey is unique to themselves. Her biggest past time was being a student and having Bible-based discussions. “There's so many relatable things about people's stories,” Lewis said. “Art lets you showcase your story and demonstrate it and then somebody can [connect to] it.”

“What brings me joy [with PKM] is helping others to reach their full potential and providing them a platform to do that,” Barron said. “[Sharing stories] is two-fold. The trust that someone places in you to tell their story as well as the impact their story has on others–it can be life changing!”
